At 6 Jason is mostly goofing around. He goofs his way through just about everything. He loves to be funny and ham it up and he can say the funniest things. He can have a surprisingly quick wit for a 6 year old.
The day before his birthday Jason was home from school sick. Which means by school rules he has to stay home the next day as well. So we had a really fun day at home on his birthday. He got legos and some new shoes.
This year Jason had a big birthday party. We had it at the bounce place. I dont think he has ever asked me so many times when something was. It was fun to see him so excited about it.
I got to slide a couple times with Jason...otherwise I really didnt see him except for a few pictures.
Jason's school buds Zachary and Ryan C.
Everyone had a blast. We had the neighbor kids, school kids and church kids.
Jason loves his buddy David. They are going to travel the world together as scientists.
What do boys do with party hats?
These three have been together for most of their birthdays.
What do moms do at a bounce party?
Jason could hardly open his presents. He opened a few and he was out, right in the middle he just lied down and went to sleep. I think that is party till you drop!

Camping Yellowstone with more Bakow's
This last weekend we met up with Kurke's family to go camping. We flew into Idaho Falls and drove up towards Yellowstone. We camped at the Henry's Lake outside of West Yellowstone. I have never been 5th wheel camping before, and I have to say it was quite luxurious. We had a small camper when we were growing up. Two big trailers with electricity and running water had some very nice advantages. It was particularly nice when it rained for about three hours. It was relaxing and a wonderful time to hang out and enjoy the out of doors. Fires, little hikes, marshmellows, games, excursions and even some scary stories by Trent. I also have to say that Kurke is a superb camping chef.
Taking off on our adventure.
Walking down to the lake at sunset on the first day. Jason had a new head lamp to try out. Flashlights and fires are great things about camping.
Trent and Jason had a lot of fun working on the fire. I am pretty sure they used a couple boxes of matches in a few days. They made kindling, built the initial fire and added many different types of things to the fire, cans, marshmellows, corncobs, paper plates and they made the plastic utensils into curled up sculptures!
They were up before everyone else, getting the fire ready. We kept trying to tell Jason to watch his head as he swung up...but he didnt get it till he knicked his head. He was totally fine.
We all enjoyed the fire. Notice where the matches are.
It was great to hang out with Jaxon and get to know him better. The boys loved him and he is just fun to be around. I kept thinking ok he is going to get tired of playing with them, but he never did. Amazing.
In Yellowstone we saw all the best highlights.
We got out and did many little mini hikes.
We had to test and see how hot the water was.
Some of these pools were really beautiful.
We found this really great tree to take pictures by. The boys who generally did not want their picture taken loved this one.
Of coarse we stopped to see old faithful.
We saw lots of buffalo. They are very interesting animals, but not the type you want to go up and pet.
We stopped at the upper and lower falls.
I definitly have some cute nieces and nephews!
Jason the ranger!
Sunday there was a bit of a storm. We were relaxing and playing games anyway. But at one point as it started to hail we had to take the tent down in a flash...it was very windy.
But it cleared up just in time for kurke to make his kettle lasagna and pineapple upside down cake. Yummm... Kurke has all the gear!
The last day we went up to the top of the highest peak. It was amazing and cold!

Soccer has started!
OK I had no idea how much fun I would have watching soccer. I thought, take my chair out and watch Jason run around. Well I shocked myself because there I was yelling on the sidelines. Oh my. I did much better the second time, managed to stay in my seat. Jason is a natural at soccer. I think primarily because he loves to run. And in soccer you can be running all the time. Sometimes we will be leaving Aunt Ruth's house and Jason will be unhappy about going home and I will say you want to run, and off he will go, full speed for two blocks. When he was three and we watched some of the Olympics he said he wanted to be the fastest runner in the world. He has been doing that since he was three. Well soccer is about speed. And Jason can run.
First day they learned throw ins and how to kick the ball.
They also learned to stand on the ball when they are waiting. I think its for posing!
Then they played. Its great at this age because they show up do a couple drills and play for 30 minutes. They also play three on three, so even when they are all going for the ball at the same time, its not very crowed.
Jason scored the first goal for his team that day. He was very proud of himself.
The next practice/game they did warm ups. Doesn't look much like soccer, looks more like football. Jason has a hard time doing warm ups at first. I dont think he knows what to make of it all.
Jason out in front.
Jason in the pack....
He breaks out...
Getting by the defender!
And the crowd goes wild! OK just his mom goes wild!
