These two continue to like two things in common for sure. Swimming and bugs.

Tying Shoes
I know I take pictures of the funniest things... Jason has been working on tying his shoes this year. And I would say this time round he got it. He can tie his shoes and even double knot them. That is a feel good thing for a kid. I remember tying my shoes the first times. The feeling of accomplishment. I took some pictures of him practicing.
Yeah Jason!
Yeah Jason!

Just a couple hours with Andrea
and what happens....Jason comes back all his nails painted and his face as well. I am sure he loved it, till he realized we were going somewhere that evening. It was very funny. Then he wanted to get it all off, except the hair, he loved the hair.
We actually ended up removing most of the polish and leaving some striped on his nails.

Chicks week 3
The chicks are three weeks old. We still get up and go and see them first thing in the morning. Jason loves to get them out and hold them. The chicks are starting to get more feathers, all of them have small wing feathers now and a bit of tail feathers.
We like to sit them on the edge of the box. Chicks naturally like to perch on things it seems. They are starting to get up on the roosting bar as well.
Jason has two favorites, Hedwig and Issy. Hedwig because he looks like the owl from Harry Potter and Issy because she is so calm and will just sit there with him. I dont think I have a favorite yet.
Jason says he is napping them, he snuggles them in the towel and wraps them up and they just sit in there with their heads poking out and then they close their eyes. They do nap a lot.
We love our chicks.

Our Easter Chicks...
Thursday and Friday we got chicks. 5 different types of baby chicks that will grow up to be egg layers. I think we are both excited to have chickens. Jason is excited because he can feed them bugs. And I am excited because I will get fresh chicken manuer for the garden. And we will have these chickens to tend to. I always wanted to live on a farm!
Every morning so far the first thing we go to check on how the chickens are doing. They usually wake up and scurry around.
They are probably 5 days old this weekend.
Here is Jason holding his favorite Hedwig. (He looks like the owl from Harry Potter!)
Here they are, each one with its name, type and eggs and full size.

Climbing Trees
Jason has always been a climber. Since he was small he has climbed on top of everything. When we first moved into this house, Jason climbed up the play structure at 1.5 years old and swung out over the space below holding on to the cross bar, this was about 7 feet off the ground. Since that shock I have not really gotten too alarmed at his climbing. Or even really cautioned him. I have let him be in charge of that. Until this last week. I was a bit shocked or at least this last week he startled me again!
The almond tree is always the tree Jason has climbed...helping me collect almonds and just being in a tree. He could get about 6 to 8 feet up in that tree. Here he is back in 2008.
