The Circus

OK this was the littlest small town circus. Just like in the movies. A couple bad carnival rides, the cooped up animals and an odd sort of characters. I loved it, it was just so funny. I think I have gone to a few circuses as a kid. It was fun, we had a great time, at least I had a great time.

It had all the required events of the circus. An MC, acrobats, the clown, the elephants, dog tricks, the pretzel guy, dancing ladies, the camel ride and popcorn. I would do it again next year. What fun.

A chicken coop

Jason and I are building a chicken coop. We decided to but it in the back corner of the yard. Jason has enjoyed helping hammer and hold and measure and finally paint. Sometimes he takes a little break!

Teenage Chicks

There is one word for teenage chicks - gangly!

They are getting bigger and are outgrowing their digs. Out of the house and into the garage. We need to start working on a coop.

First Gymnastics Meet

It has been fun to watch Jason learn gymnastics. At first he could not do much, he started by hanging on the bar, trying to do pullups and struggling to walk on his hands across the parallel bars. Last week he had his first meet. At this age they are just meets with the kids at the gym. There was only one other little boy, which I am glad there was one. Jason had a great time playing with Colten in between doing the events. The way it works is everyone rotates from event to event. The girls had to rotate as well, so they had to wait as long as it took for the girls to compete and there were a lot more girls, so they sat and played a lot. First they stretch. Jason is very flexible. Not sure where he got that from. But even compared to the girl he is flexible. He is also very strong compared to the other 20 or so boys at the gym. Only a couple other boys have the strength he has. At the end they got ribbons and an all around medal. It was funny because they swithed back and forth from 1st and 2nd quite a few times. They had a good time with that. They were laughing that they had to switch back and forth. The boys with their coach. They have an excellent coach. The boys all really like him. Here is a clip of Jason's events.

When Jason watched this a couple days ago, when watching the rings he said, mom my muscles hurt just watching that. I thought it was fun to be there and watch.

Mother's Day

One of the best things about being here is being around one of the greatest mom's ever, my sister. We had a great time at Sunday dinner on Mother's day.

Another great blessing this year is having Kiera be part of our family. She is a joy to have around.

Annual Spring Camping

This year was windy but not too cold. Luckily we missed any rain. I think we hit the one warmish spring week this year as it has been a cold and rainy spring. This year we flew kites. It was not windy enough all the time, but there were a couple spots of wind that got things going.

Our campsite was right next to the stream this year. Very nice. We had our own beach and it was full of pollywogs and little fish. The boys had a great time in the raft and we picniced there for lunch.

This year Jason decided to wear his sunglasses around the fire. He said it helped to keep the smoke out of his eyes...so day or night you usually found him with his sunglasses around the campfire!

Camping is just such fun. Hanging out, exploring at will, sword fights, trying again to fly the kites, going back down to the creek to check on the polywogs...a great time for everyone.

This year was Zach's birthday. It was fun to celebrate with him. And as always a fun group.
